Years ago, I volunteered at my school, providing help to an autistic sixth grader's class. While I knew about their physical challenges, I learned about their emotional struggles after cycling with an acquaintance. She is a counsellor for autistic teenagers in Kelowna. We discussed the obstacles and challenges the impacted individual faces. We also discussed the limited funding available to provide programs that will help them engage, grow, and chart a better future.

I firmly believe anyone can succeed with the right tool, regardless of their challenge. Therefore, I will participate in the Canucks Autism Network Ride for Autism to support this worthy cause for the third consecutive year. Donations collected from this event raise vital funding for Canucks Autism Network (CAN) programs in Kelowna.

With over 1,000 children and youth on the spectrum in the Okanagan, support is needed more than ever.
