Canucks Autism Network Virtual Challenge | Will you support my campaign?
Will you help me support Canucks Autism Network (CAN)? This May 31-June 4, I will be participating the annual CAN Virtual Challenge!
Dear Family and Friends
My name is Evan Bissoondatt and I’m 16 yrs old this month (May 8th!). I am participating in the Canucks Autism Network Virtual Challenge from May 31-June 4th and would like to ask if you can support me for this fundraising event.
A little About Me: As most of you know , I am on the Autism Spectrum but only diagnosed as a teen in 2019. When the pandemic hit and I had no social interactions, it was very challenging for me and my parents to find programs and activities to support me. I was bored, sad and in a bad mood a lot. Then we found out that the Canucks Autism Network offered online programs for Teens like me (at no cost!) and it was life changing! I signed up for programs like Virtual Youth Meetups, Virtual Movie Clubs, Virtual Fitness, Virtual Dance and even participated in ‘In Person’ programs once it was allowed like Explore Volunteering where I got to volunteer to clean up local parks on the weekends. Currently I’m participating in 3 programs, one of them is Virtual Explore Employment where they teach us skills and prepare us for when we are ready to find a job. I have met so many wonderful people through CAN, teens on the spectrum like me and coaches and mentors who have made a big impact on my life . They continue to inspire me and one day, my dream is to work as a Social Worker/Coach for CAN , helping kids like me where I can make a difference in the community.
The Fundraiser: All donations support the Canucks Autism Network. They provide programs for individuals with autism and their families, while promoting acceptance and inclusion through community engagement and training initiatives across BC and beyond. During this time of physical distancing, they have begun offering virtual programming so that participants can stay active and engaged with their community while staying safe at home.
My goal is to raise $1,000 (or more!) for this worthy cause and help them continue all the programs that have helped me greatly. You will receive a tax receipt for any donations $25 and over but any amount helps . I really appreciate it!
The Challenge: During the 5-day challege period, we will be completing various physical, creative and outdoor activities in support of CAN. I will be completing all the challenges starting May 31st and will be submitting videos and pics of my efforts.
Thank you so much for reading this! Help us support CAN participants across BC! Together, we can create a future where every individual on the spectrum is understood, accepted and supported in all community spaces.
